User Profiles allow more than one person to register browser preferences on the same computer. For instance, each of your e-mail addresses can have a separate set of bookmarks or a different opening Web site.

Please remember that User Profiles can be accessed by anyone using the computer after you have logged on. This means that someone can read messages by simply changing the profile when prompted by the Netscape Profile Window.
If you are adding new profiles to match your Mediacom e-mail accounts, you must register new user names and passwords through the Member Services before setting up a new profile.

To add a User Profile on your PC:
1. Exit Netscape
2. Click the START button at the lower left of your screen
3. Select PROGRAMS
4. Find and select NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR
5. Click on UTILITIES
6. Click on USER PROFILE MANAGER in the following window
7. If you have not exited Netscape earlier, the computer will prompt you to do so now
8. A dialogue box appears listing any existing profiles
9. Click NEW
10. A new window opens
11. Fill in each box with the requested information -- FULL NAME -- EMAIL ADDRESS - should be your Mediacom user name
12. Click NEXT
13. Enter a Profile Name if you want something different
14. Leave the Directory information as it appears
15. Set the Outgoing (SMTP) Server to read: mail
16. Click NEXT
17. Locate the box labeled: MAIL SERVER USER NAME
18. Enter your Mediacom User Name
19. Locate the box labeled: INCOMING MAIL SERVERS
20. Type: mail
21. Click NEXT
22. Locate the box labeled: NEWS NNTP SERVER
23. Type: news
24. Locate the box labeled: PORT
25. Type: 119
26. Leave the SECURE box UNMARKED
27. Click FINISH

To add a new User Profile on your Mac:
1. Close Netscape
2. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen
3. Click FIND FILE in the drop-down menu
4. A new box displays
5. Locate the blank white bar
6. Type: USER PROFILE MANAGER
7. Click FIND
8. A new list appears
9. Double-click on the NETSCAPE application program
10. The Netscape Communicator Profiles box displays with a list of current profiles
11. Click the NEW button
12. The New Profile Setup window opens -- this is the first in a series of 10 windows
13. Fill in the blanks on each and click NEXT until you are finished
14. Click whatever shortcuts you would like
15. Click NEXT
16. Click DONE to register your new profile

Netscape will launch automatically when you are done using the profile you have just created. If you want to use another profile, you must restart Netscape.
