How Can I Restore My Browser Desktop Icon?

If you have deleted the icon on your desktop, you can recreate it using the Windows® Shortcut feature.

To recreate the icon on your desktop:

1. Close or minimize all programs
2. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop
3. From the menu that appears, select NEW and click SHORTCUT
4. In the Create Shortcut dialog box, click BROWSE and locate the iexplore or iexplore.exe file located in the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ directory
5. If your computer is configured so you do not see file extensions, the file will be called: Iexplore
6. Double-click the file when located
7. You will return to the Create Shortcut dialog box, but the Command Line field will now show the path: C:\ProgramFiles\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORER.EXE
8. Click NEXT and change the name of the shortcut to: IEXPLORER
9. Click FINISH

You can see the new shortcut on your desktop and may double-click your new IEXPLORER icon to launch the browser.
