How Do I Configure My Computer Settings with DHCP for Windows 2000?


To configure your computer settings with DHCP for Windows 2000 operating systems:


  1. Close all applications


  2. Click the START button in the lower left corner of your screen


  3. Select SETTINGS and click NETWORK AND DIAL UP CONNECTIONS


  4. Right-click LOCAL AREA NETWORK


  5. Click PROPERTIES


  6. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click PROPERTIES


  7. Select the option next to Obtain and IP address automatically


  8. Select the option next to Obtain DNS server address automatically


  9. Click OK


  10. Click OK again

After you have configured your computer for DHCP restart your computer and reconnect the cable that goes from your cable modem to the computer and reconnect the power cord to the cable modem.
