How Do I Configure My Computer Settings with DHCP for Windows NT?

Before you begin configuring your computer for DHCP please unplug your cable modem power cord and disconnect the cable that goes from your modem to your computer.

To configure your computer settings with DHCP for Windows NT operating systems:



  1. Close all applications

  2. Click the START button in the lower left corner of your screen

  3. Select SETTINGS and click CONTROL PANEL

  4. Double-click the NETWORK icon

  5. Click the IDENTIFICATION tab

  6. Locate the box marked: COMPUTER NAME

  7. Click the PROTOCOLS tab

  8. Highlight the TCP/IP protocol

  9. Click the PROPERTIES button below the window

  10. A new window will open

  11. Click the IP ADDRESS tab

  12. Verify that your Broadband Cable Internet Service Network Adapter is selected

  13. Locate and click on the button labeled: OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY (if prompted with a confirmation message, click YES)

  14. Click OK

  15. A box will appear prompting to restart your computer

  16. Click Yes

After you have configured your computer for DHCP restart your computer and reconnect the cable that goes from your cable modem to the computer and reconnect the power cord to the cable modem.
